What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence, also known as EQ, is a term that has gained popularity in recent years. It refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.  EQ is a critical skill that is essential for success in both personal and professional relationships.

In this article, we will explore what emotional intelligence is, why it is important, and how you can develop your own EQ.

What is Emotional Intelligence?

Emotional intelligence is a set of skills that allow individuals to recognize and understand their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. It involves the ability to manage and regulate one's own emotions, as well as the ability to empathize with others and respond appropriately to their emotions.

There are four primary components of emotional intelligence:

 1. Self-awareness: The ability to recognize and understand one's own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and values.

 2. Self-regulation: The ability to manage and regulate one's own emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

 3. Social awareness: The ability to recognize and understand the emotions of others, as well as the ability to empathize with them.

 4. Relationship management: The ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and manage conflicts.

Why is Emotional Intelligence Important?

Emotional intelligence is important for several reasons. First, it is essential for building strong relationships. When we are able to recognize and understand our own emotions, we are better able to communicate our needs and feelings to others.

Similarly, when we are able to recognize and understand the emotions of others, we are better able to empathize with them and respond appropriately. Second, emotional intelligence is important for success in the workplace.

Studies have shown that individuals with high levels of emotional intelligence are more likely to be successful in their careers. This is because they are better able to communicate effectively, manage conflicts, and build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

Finally, emotional intelligence is important for overall well-being. When we are able to manage and regulate our own emotions, we are better able to cope with stress and maintain a positive outlook on life.

How to Develop Your Emotional Intelligence

Fortunately, emotional intelligence is a skill that can be developed over time. Here are some strategies for developing your own EQ:

 1. Practice self-awareness: Take time to reflect on your own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and values. Journaling can be a helpful tool for developing self-awareness.

 2. Practice self-regulation: Learn to manage and regulate your own emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. This may involve techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness.

 3. Practice social awareness: Pay attention to the emotions of others and try to empathize with them. This may involve active listening, asking questions, and showing genuine interest in others.

 4. Practice relationship management: Learn to communicate effectively, build relationships, and manage conflicts. This may involve techniques such as assertive communication, active listening, and conflict resolution.

 5. Seek feedback: Ask for feedback from others on your emotional intelligence skills. This can help you identify areas for improvement and develop a plan for growth.

In conclusion, emotional intelligence is a critical skill that is essential for success in both personal and professional relationships.

By developing your own EQ, you can improve your communication skills, build stronger relationships, and enhance your overall well-being. With practice and dedication, anyone can develop their emotional intelligence skills and reap the benefits that come with them.

Energy Follows Thoughts, Your Intentions Matter and your Thoughts Have Frequencies

You may have heard the old adage: 'Energy Follows Thought' and it's absolutely true. One of the most important steps to creating the life you want to live is to watch your thoughts because energy will follow. What we think, what we meditate upon, and where we focus our intentions are what will manifest in our lives.

Have you ever considered how a simple thought moves through your nervous system to manifest? For example, if you think: 'Move my right finger," that thought from your brain, sends the energy to actually move your finger. Even if someone is paralyzed or missing their finger, the thought still connects to energy to accomplish the task.

The same holds true with our lives and reaching our dreams, goals, and destiny. We really do have the ability to create a better life by changing our thoughts to positive ones. Negative thinking will bring negative energy and it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If you want to change your life, you have to...I repeat...you HAVE to change your thoughts so they line up with what you want to manifest because Energy will ALWAYS follow thought!

Thoughts have frequencies and if you want to be someone who operates on a higher frequency, then you must adjust your thoughts accordingly.

What is it in your life that you want to change? What do you want to manifest? Begin today by changing your thoughts to positive ones and understand that your intentions matter. Energy follows thought.

What are you thinking about today?

Share Compassion and Love with People, Plants, Animals, and Nature

Kindness flows through your hands. Share compassion and love with people, plants, animals, and nature today. You are a healer! Yes, it's true that you have the power to heal through your hands. Many people assume that healing is some magical gift bestowed by the Gods on a few chosen individuals. They think that only people with a special ability can tap into this gift. Have you ever realized that compassion, kindness, mercy, grace, and love are some of the easiest forms of healing that everyone can tap into, yet sadly, few people do?

You are a healer and you can share your healing gifts today with an act of your will. How easy it is for us to turn inward and lock up our healing gifts instead of sharing them with the world. When we are angry, upset, fearful, or stressed, we may find that our mood becomes tense. We may snap at those around us, say things we don't mean, and forget that our purpose here is to be a divine reflection of God's love.  That brilliant spark of divine love is within all of us, yet if we don't fan the flames and keep the fire burning, the darkness will try to snuff it out.

The acts you perform, the words you say, and the choices you make determine how great your light shines.

There is a little spark inside each of us but we choose whether to grow that spark into the burning flame of love or keep it dimly lit.

Do you remember the song: 'This Little Light of Mine?' 'This little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine. Hide it under a bushel, No! I'm going to let it shine.'

Today, Spirit is urging all of us to remove the bushels from our heart lights and fan those flames through love's actions of compassion, kindness, and love.

Look for ways that you can let kindness flow from your hands to those around you. Share mercy, grace, and compassion with the people around you, with animals, and with nature. It is our purpose to care for our brothers and sisters, to take care of the animals on this planet, and to nurture nature by caring for the planet herself.

In today's card, you can see the beautiful woman as Spirit's love is reflected in the lights around her heart space, her hands are hidden reflecting that she has the choice whether to take action. The fractal flowers are in full bloom and ready for maturity. The time to take action and choose your path is now.

Will you let Spirit's light of love remain just small burning flickers or will you fan the flames and set your heart ablaze? Only when you are burning with Spirit's love can you truly be a beacon of light for others.

The world is waiting for you to share your love, kindness, and compassion. What are you waiting for?

Negative Thoughts Never Produce Positive Actions: Five Minute Meditation

Have you ever realized that negative thoughts never produce positive actions?  I woke early this
morning and began meditating on several affirmations. I like to set my day by raising my vibration and mentally noting the things I intend to accomplish for the day. During my mental "to-do list" I thought of how nothing positive ever truly comes from negative thinking. Of course, we can always strive to turn something positive out of a negative situation or experience, but when it comes to goal setting and setting intentions, we must do away with all negative thought patterns. Otherwise, we are simply engaging in self-sabotage and have zero chance of effectively reaching our goals or having the impact we desire.

Negative thought patterns can be residual traits from toxic situations. Fear and doubt are often left from situations where we felt scared, powerless, neglected, or abused. Sometimes we fail to offer forgiveness for people that hurt us and instead of releasing the situation to love and letting go of the emotions we've attached to it, we internalize negative thoughts and engage in a pattern of self-destruction.

It is imperative that we rid ourselves of toxic, negative thoughts and thinking patterns in order to give ourselves the freedom to be successful.

What soundtrack is playing in your thought life? If you are continually speaking negatively to yourself or thinking negative thoughts, then you need to shift your inner dialogue. Speak lovingly to yourself and watch as things change. Give yourself at least three weeks to change your inner dialogue. When you think negatively or are full of doubt and fear, mentally set your mind on the positive. Reverse the negative thought by thinking of a positive alternative. Speaking this new positive affirmation out loud is a great way to change your thinking patterns.

Believing in yourself is paramount to achieving what you want in life and is the key to being happy. No one who is truly full of faith, hope, joy, gratitude, and belief in themself can be miserable. Sure, you may have some days that are better than others, but you will have the inner resolve to face any challenge and overcome it.

Life is not a race to the finish line but a spiritual journey to be felt, experienced, and enjoyed with the senses. If you are full of negative thoughts, you will not produce positive actions, nor will you have a pleasurable experience on your journey.

Reshape your thinking and watch as your life follows suit.

Please take the next five minutes to sit back, relax, and reset your outlook.
